Operation of metallographic electrolytic corrosion meter

a

Metallographic electrolytic corrosion meter is a kind of instrument used for surface treatment and observation of metal samples, which is widely used in materials science, metallurgy and metal processing. This paper will introduce the use of metallographic electrolytic corrosion meter.

The steps of the metallographic electrolytic corrosion meter are as follows:

Step 1 : prepare the sample.

The preparation of the metal sample to be observed to the appropriate size usually requires cutting, polishing and cleaning to ensure surface finish and cleanliness.

Step 2: Select the appropriate electrolyte. Select the appropriate electrolyte according to the material and observation requirements of the sample. Commonly used electrolytes include acidic electrolyte (such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc.) and alkaline electrolyte (such as sodium hydroxide solution, etc.).

Step 3: According to the characteristics of metal materials and observation requirements, the current density, voltage and corrosion time are adjusted appropriately.
The selection of these parameters needs to be optimized based on experience and actual test results.

Step 4 :Initiate the corrosion process. Put the sample into the electrolytic cell, ensure that the sample is in full contact with the electrolyte, and connect the power supply to start the current.

Step 5 :Monitor the corrosion process. Observe changes on the surface of the sample, usually under a microscope. According to the need, several corrosion and observation can be carried out until a satisfactory microstructure is obtained.

Step 6:Stop corrosion and clean sample. When a satisfactory microstructure is observed, the current is stopped, the sample is removed from the electrolyzer and thoroughly cleaned to remove the residual electrolyte and corrosion products.

In short, metallographic electrolytic corrosion meter is an important material analysis tool, which can observe and analyze the microstructure of metal samples by etching the surface. The accurate principle and the correct use method can ensure the accuracy and reliability of the corrosion results, and provide strong support for the research in the field of materials science and metal processing.
