SCP-1P Shear Pin Type Brinell Hardness Tester
Test Method:
The shear pin is placed into the horizontal hole of the shear pin holder. The indenter, with its spherical surface facing outward, is pushed upward from the lower part into the vertical hole of the shear pin holder, making contact with the shear pin. The shear pin holder is then inserted into either a spiral cylinder (for static loading) or an impact sleeve (for percussion loading).

When the test force is applied to the shear pin holder, the force is transmitted through the shear pin to the indenter, pressing the indenter into the specimen’s surface. Once the test force reaches the shear pin’s rated shear force of 1580 kg, the shear pin is severed by the shearing system formed by the shear pin holder and the indenter. The indenter retracts deep into the vertical hole of the shear pin holder, and the loading process is instantly terminated. This leaves a circular indentation on the specimen’s surface. The diameter of the indentation is measured using a reading microscope, and the precise Brinell hardness value of the specimen is determined by referencing a conversion table.
